TARINAA

From Sea to Marjaniemi

My family roots go back to Hailuoto in the early 1900s when my father's family lived in Marjaniemi, on the westernmost peninsula of the island. My grandfather, Frans Korpela, had a long career at sea and eventually became the last lighthouse master in Marjaniemi. I myself was at sea for twenty years, following tradition. It was natural to set up a home and tourism-related business in Hailuoto with my wife. This is where my roots are. It is peaceful here, and this island has a very special atmosphere that can't be found anywhere else.

Together with my wife, we continue the family tradition here in Hailuoto in our way, by offering services to tourists. The caravan and the guest harbor business are focused on the summer season, while the Arctic Lighthouse Hotel offers accommodation and services all year round. Our aim is to develop Hailuoto's tourism outside the summer season as well. We want to offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful place all year round.

It is great to see how people come here to enjoy nature, the sea, and the atmosphere of Hailuoto. The lighthouse creates a unique look at the small fishing village and its beaches. Hailuoto offers beautiful light, stunning nature, and stories in all seasons. We are fortunate to be able to bring our part to this beautiful island and share the unique atmosphere of Marjaniemi with visitors from all over the world. Welcome to visit and experience the magic of Marjaniemi for yourself!
